2020 Year of the Metal Rat Forecast

Standard

The year of 2019, the year of the Earth Pig, was a difficult one for many. It was a year of inner work and reflection and also a pulling together of things, which for many was  preceded by a falling apart of things.

This new year of 2020 not only boasts a new decade, but it’s also fresh positive energy from the Chinese zodiac perspective. Opportunities abound this year and it will be a great year for businesses and promoting yourself! It’s time to reap the benefits of the work you have done over the past several years and also to plant new seeds for the next decade and new 12 year cycle. It’s a year for planning and for taking action on those plans. The possibility of experiencing abundance is available to everyone this year!

The 12 animals of the Chinese zodiac cycle through each of the 5 elements so there is a 60 year full cycle.  With the year of the RAT in 2020 we begin a brand new sign cycle. This is an opportunity for a fresh start. The actions and decisions you make this year set the tone for the next 12 years! From the Chinese zodiac perspective the 2020 “vision” year fits in perfectly with the fresh energy of the Metal Rat (metal being about focus and clarity and the rat bringing a fresh beginning.)

Each animal is naturally connected to an element and the RAT’s element is Water. This particular year we have a METAL RAT. Since metal produces water (think of the condensation on a metal water bottle that is not insulated), we have the metal energy feeding the rat’s natural element, which could mean a more peaceful year. However, 2020 is not a year to be lazy energy since the element of metal is about focus, discipline, refinement, structure, logic and honesty.

Looking at the personality of the Rat helps give us a glimpse of what’s in store for the coming year. Rats have a split personality. They are both Yin and Yang, having front paws with four fingers (yin) and back paws with five toes (yang). Further, each Chinese animal is associated with two hours of the day and the Rat’s energy is split since their hours span two days, going from 11pm – 1am.

Rats are introverts but also need to be around people. They can be bossy (they are the #1 animal in the Chinese zodiac after all…like Aries in the traditional zodiac). Rats aren’t given handouts – they have to scrounge for their food, which means you will need to put yourself out there and go after what you want this year. Rats tend to live in the moment and are devoted to their family. They are very detail-oriented, but they don’t like to work too hard so their success results from using their minds. They are quite adaptable and their best friend is the Ox with other friends being Dragons and Monkeys (this gives you a hint about who has a good year in store!)

Numerology Connects with Metal Rat Year Energy

It’s interesting, though not all that surprising that the numerology for 2020 echoes the energy of the Chinese zodiac year of the Metal Rat. This year is a 22/4 year which is quite powerful.  According to Louise Hay’s book, Colors and Numbers, 22/4 relates to greatness and the 4 by itself is about being practical, which connects very strongly with the energy of metal.  We haven’t had this powerful double energy in a year since 1919.

Things to do this year:

  • Work with others, in your community and focus on projects that benefit many
  • Build something, especially foundations
  • Be constructive (also means being positive and happy as you do your work)
  • Be productive and organized
  • Focus and pay attention to details
  • Work on big projects and follow a schedule for completion
  • Focus on self-discipline and using your mind
  • “Weed” and declutter your space, your mind, your life
  • Organize and care for your things: home, clothes, finances, etc.
  • Wear white, gold and metallics to tap into the energy of Metal
  • Be in harmony with the earth (spending more time outside, using eco-friendly products, giving back by cleaning up the planet)

Industries that will perform well in 2020 include:

Computers              Banking/Financial    Power Generation
Restaurants            Entertainment         Real Estate             Construction
Mining                    Insurance               Technology             Machinery

Challenged Industries in 2020 include:

Fashion                  Media                     Communication       Books
Shipping                Transport               Environment

Your Year – How it looks for you in 2020

Nobleman:
A gift this year for those born in years ending in 5 or 9!!
This brings more support, protection, guidance, solutions and assistance this year – an added boost which will make this year a more comfortable one for you. This offsets a challenging year. It’s a great time to move, write a book, start something new or travel.

The energies described below are general energies. You can ALWAYS have a good year and this year of 2020 is ripe with opportunities for everyone!

Extremely Good Year:   Ox      Dragon      Monkey
It’s a good year for you to be more fearless… start a business, write a book,
make a move, start a new career/job as you have good energy behind you!

Neutral Year:       Rat      Tiger      Snake      Rooster      Dog      Pig
*Challenging Year:        Horse (this is your clash year)   Rabbit      Sheep
This is a year to be more cautious, move more slowly, step back, don’t take
risks, lay low. You may still have a good year if you follow this guidance!

*
Those having a challenging year will benefit from having an OX talisman
This can be a stone figurine, a necklace, a stuffed animal etc. and it is used to run interference between you and the rat this year. Ox are friends with the Rat and they will calm down the energy for you.  à Keep this talisman somewhere you will see it daily, like your dresser, bathroom counter, or desk.

Some ideas for Ox talismans:

Handmade Chinese 12 Zodiac Amulets Lucky charm (wood)
Chinese Zodiac Amulet Metal Coin Horoscope Lucky Charms (Ox)
Chinese Ox Golden Resin Collectible Figurines Table Decor Statue

How to Shake Up Your Chi

Standard

Clients often share with me that they feel stuck or unmotivated or that they cannot shift a particular area of their life and as a result are feeling frustrated. Sometimes things were going well and then they suddenly feel they have hit a plateau. When this happens, I first recommend energetically clearing both their homes and offices. (For more information on Space Clearing, watch this video or find more information about Space Clearing here.)

Next, I look at how we can shift the energy in their space and their life. Shifting energy is which is what feng shui is all about!

In feng shui, chi refers to energy. Everything has chi or energy – physical objects, cars, homes, offices and even human beings. You may have heard a person’s personal energy referred to as their vibration.

When we are “in flow” our chi/energy is good and we are vibrating at a high level. You have experienced this when you “happened” to be in the right place at the right time or things lined up easily for you, without a lot of effort on your part.

Then there are times when things are not flowing. You may feel like you are moving through mud and perhaps cannot seem to get any traction. Or you may feel like you are not moving at all. You may, in fact, be energetically stuck.

If you’re feeling stuck or out of sorts, it might be time to SHAKE UP your CHI!

There are many ways to shift out of this stuck place. One of my favorite ways is to shake up your chi. Shifting your chi or energy, allows you to see circumstances from a fresh perspective which leads to ideas and solutions that you cannot access from that stuck place.

The next time you’re feeling stuck, try one of these six ways to Shake Up Your Chi:

  1. Try something new! Try a new restaurant or food, a new activity, a new experience, a new way of doing something or learning something new (take a class).
  2. Take a new route. Drive down a different road. Take a different route to or from work. Walk a different way. I remember walking the opposite way that I normally would go and saw so many things I never noticed walking the other way. For peeps in Maui, swim at a different beach or hike a new trail.
  3. Move your furniture around. This method shifts the energy in your space in a very real way. My landlord recently brought me different living room furniture and a different kitchen table and it totally changed the energy I felt in that space and opened it up too. Creating more flow by clearing walkways through your house helps too.
  4. Change up your routine. Do your daily activities in a different order, like getting dressed before you look at your phone or meditating, exercising or walking at a different time of day. You could also go in and out a different door (hello front door!), use different dishes – maybe even the fine china. Eat in a different room, like that dining room that is used so rarely. Even putting your right sock or shoe on first instead of your left can shake up your chi!
  5. Pick a random letter and call someone you haven’t talked to in awhile (thanks for this one Gary V). Talking to an old friend or a family member you haven’t chatted with lately can be a great way to remind you what’s important in life too.
  6. And, the ultimate way to shake up your chi?! Go on VACATION or on a RETREAT!!! Yes, it’s true! Changing your physical environment is a wonderful way to shake up your chi, especially if you are visiting a place you have never been or doing something you have never done before.

Comment below to let me know if you try any of these or what your favorite ways are to shake up your chi!

Your Stove Can Increase Wealth

Your Stove Can Increase wealth
Standard

In Feng Shui stoves represent wealth and abundance no matter where in the home they are located. This comes from the belief in ancient China that stoves represent wealth because that was the way you fed your family. The more burners you had, the wealthier you were because you could feed more people.  Stoves nourish the occupants of the space and friends and family who come to visit and share meals there as well.

You can boost your wealth and abundance using your stove by:

  1.  Keeping your stove clean – this shows respect for the nourishing aspects and attracts good chi or energy.
  2. Putting pots and pans away – we don’t want to dowse our wealth by covering the burners. If you have a tea kettle that you like to leave on the stove, you may choose one that is reflective or place it on a different burner each day.
  3. Use all the burners instead of just the ones in the front – activating all of the burners will bring more abundance to you, like firing all the engines in a jet gives it more power.

Stove Placement

Another energetic challenge I see in many homes is the location of the stove. Many stoves are situated so that the person cooking has their back to the room. This is a challenge because then you are not in the “command” position of the space. This can lead to feeling unprepared for what is coming at you in life and being surprised by what unfolds.

To remedy this situation, I recommend placing a mirror or reflective surface behind the stove. This adjustment is powerful for 2 reasons:

  1. It allows you to be prepared fro whatever happens in your life (and to see what and who is coming up behind you) and…
  2. It effectively doubles your burners and therefore doubles your wealth!

Powerful Feng Shui Stove Adjustment
This adjustment will really give your abundance a boost and activate your wealth!

For 9 days in a row, turn on all the burners on your stove on high for a few seconds until they are bright red. While they are lit up, visualize abundance in all forms flowing to you. The intention to attract more abundance and wealth into your life is the most important part.

Let me know what happens and what forms of abundance you attract into your life as you do so!

Destined to WIN

Standard

It’s official…

I am Destined to WIN!

Five years ago when I attended my first Women in Networking (WIN) event, the annual conference, they were giving out awards to women in the group who exemplified certain qualities. Many cried and you could tell that the awards meant a lot to them. I had the intuition or maybe I set the intention in that moment…”That’s going to be me one day!”
*
I didn’t really think it would take me 5 years to do it…lol. However, I also had a completely different business then  (I was a jewelry designer and buying gold and silver). Now, having created a business around my passions and helping others live their dream lives, the award has much more meaning to me.
*
I have been nominated for one or more of the awards the last few years. This year, I was nominated for all 3 awards: Destined to WIN, Spirited Leader and the Connector award. I had to choose which one I wanted to “put my name in the hat” for and I chose Destined to WIN because it exemplifies what I’m feeling.
*
You may not know this, but entrepreneurship is in my blood. My 91 year old dad, Donny, had 14 different businesses in his lifetime. Everything from the first Beer Nut franchise in Minnesota and a golf driving range to coffee shops, restaurants and bars. He often ran multiple businesses at once and built a supper club in St. Paul called Donny’s. He and my mom even ran the 3M Chemolite cafeteria for over 30 years!
 *
I always remember the story my dad shared with me about watching a worker walk up to the building one morning. Dad said he  looked miserable, like he really hated coming to work. My dad encouraged me to do what I love, that we work so many hours in our life, you should enjoy what you’re doing. And I do! Coaching clients, figuring out the Feng Shui puzzle of their spaces and connecting with Angels…it all lights me up and is so much fun for me to do that it doesn’t feel like work.
*
Winning the Destined to WIN award means many things to me. It’s a pat on the back that we, as solo-preneurs, so rarely get. It encourages me to keep going and reminds me I have a team of cheerleaders (my fellow WIN members, clients, friends and family) rooting for me. And, it’s a sign post that I’m on my way to Finding my own Fiji!
