The Energetic Challenge of Ashes

Standard

Keeping ashes in your home is a Feng Shui Challenge

Many people keep the ashes of their loved ones in their homes and often they are placing them in a location within the home that is energetically harming them. The energy of non-living things (not only ashes, but also dried flowers and other “dead” items) can create many difficulties — everything from lost opportunities and income to health and relationship challenges.

Dead things and ashes, whether human or pet remains, represent stuck or stagnant energy and it is best to remove them from your home. If you have dead trees in your yard, remove them. If you have plants that are dead or dying and cannot be revived, remove them.

Note: If the plant was placed as a Feng Shui adjustment and died, it has likely taken the energetic “hit” for you. Thank it for it’s service to you and replace the plant with a bigger or more expensive one.

Remove dried flowers unless they have special significance to you, such as a wedding bouquet. Consider whether you can remember the event through pictures with the living flowers instead. If you wish to keep the dried flowers, preserve and honor them by placing them in a shadow box or other container.

Many of my clients do not wish to remove the ashes of their loved ones from their home. In these cases, I make recommendations on where the ashes can be placed to do the least harm. Let’s first be clear about where ashes should not be placed within the home:

  1. In the Bedroom or outside the bedroom door. The bedroom is your place of rest, rejuvenation and romance. Keeping ashes here can negatively affect your health as well as your romantic relationships, where the deceased loved one is literally coming between you and a vibrant life with those who are still living and with your own body that is still alive.
  2. In the Dining Room. The dining room is where you take in food to nourish your body. We want living things in this space to signify life-giving energy to your body.
  3. In the Kitchen. The kitchen is where your food is cooked, which also nourishes your body and the stove is located here, which is symbolizes your wealth so keeping ashes in this location can affect both your health and your finances.
  4. Near the Front Door. As you’ve read in my previous blogs, the front door is considered the “Mouth of Chi” where all the energy and opportunities come into your home. Keeping ashes, or other non-living things in this area can push opportunities away and prevent abundance from flowing to you.

Ashes you wish to keep should be placed in a common area, like a family room or living room and well away from the front door, kitchen, dining room or your bedrooms.

Feng Shui for LOVE

Standard

Whether you are in a committed relationship or still searching for The One,” Feng Shui paves the way for more harmonious relationships. Feng Shui helps you recognize how your space reflects your life and encourages you to create a new relationship with your space. In the relationship arena, Feng Shui can help:

  • Bring balance, equality and harmony
  • Get the sparks flying again
  • Attract your soul mate
  • Reduce/eliminate arguments
  • Improve relationships with family, friends and coworkers
  • Deepen your relationship with yourself or creator

There are two main areas in your home we look at to improve relationships. One area is the partnership corner. (If you’re new to Feng Shui, click here to read my blog on Feng Shui’s mental map, the Bagua, to learn how your space reflects your life.) The other area is your bedroom, no matter where it’s located in your home.  In this article, I’m focusing primarily on your bedroom. Ideally, this should be your favorite room in the house, an oasis that is both romantic and peaceful.

Let’s first talk about the things to AVOID in your bedroom:

    1. Clutter ~ As in every area of your home or office, clutter represents stuck energy. It’s also distracting. So, if you’re trying to get your partner in the right mood, removing clutter from the bedroom will help them feel less overwhelmed and more relaxed.
    2. Dirt ~ This can represent staleness in your relationship. To keep your Partnership fresh and new feeling, keep your bedroom dusted and clean. You will sleep better too!
    3. Dead Things ~ One client I worked with had pictures of dead relatives decorating a corner of her bedroom! Sometimes we place things in spaces without really think about the metaphorical message we are sending. You want things that are alive and thriving in your bedroom and Partnership area of your home. Remove any dried flowers from your bedroom (and home) as well.
    4. Pictures of your kids and other people ~ Even if the relatives are living, we do not want them invading our bedroom, right? And kids certainly are important in our life, but again, we do not need them coming between us and our partner. The bedroom is your personal partnership space.
    5. Toys and stuffed animals ~ We want to be an adult in our relationships so childish things do not belong in the bedroom. If they are keepsakes or mementos that you love, they can be placed in another area of the home – perhaps in the Creativity and Children area.

Next, let’s talk about the things you DO WANT in your bedroom. What can you do to get the love lava flowing again or to attract your soul mate?

  1. Two equal size/weight night stands ~ This symbolizes equality in the relationship and is particularly important if you currently do not have a partner. What does it say if one partner has a large dresser on their side and the other a small nightstand? Or if one partner has no nightstand at all? Will they have much say in the relationship? Matching lamps will bring additional balance and harmony to your love connection.
  2. Art symbolizing what you want in your relationship ~ Look at the art on your bedroom walls. Is it romantic? Or do you have pictures of a frozen lake? Is it peaceful and copacetic or showing conflict? Are there single people or animals depicted in the paintings? That single cowboy picture not only shows a desert, but the guy is alone, right? That leads me to the next tip…
  3. Pairs of things ~ Pairs represent partnership and intentionally placing pairs of things in your bedroom will help balance your relationship.
  4. A current picture of the two of you, if you’re in a partnership, should be placed in your bedroom and will help solidify your bond. Sometimes I recommend a wedding picture be placed here too, to help you remember how you felt when you fell in love.
  5. Vibrant, living things ~ To really promote a healthy sex life, place 9 lush plants in the bedroom. Then, make sure you keep them alive!
  6. Add Pink and Fire ~ The partnership color is pink and adding a dash of it here or there intentionally will boost your budding or rekindling relationship. Adding the element of fire, which is all about passion, will further heat things up. You can use the color red to represent fire or physical fire (like candles) or triangle shapes. We don’t like fireplaces in bedrooms, because it’s too much energy to allow you to sleep well. However, the Partnership area of your main level is a perfect place for a fireplace.

Making changes in your Partnership area and bedroom with intention means taking time to really think about what you want to cultivate in your relationships.

Your bedroom is a key Feng Shui area. It can affect not only your relationships, but also your sleep, your health, and your mind. Your Space Reflects Your Life – What is yours saying?

Standard

Feng Shui can help you move past your current life obstacles or challenges with ease and grace! It works by helping you get clear about what you really want in your life (your intentions) and taking action to shift the energy around the obstacle. It’s a bit like rerouting traffic around an accident scene. The change you make can be very small and simple, like keeping the toilet seat down. It doesn’t cost you anything to do that, yet it will keep your money from escaping down the drain.

I recently heard Doreen Virtue say that no one, not even the well known spiritual teachers including herself, has all their stuff together. Everyone has life issues they are working on. I know I do and I’m willing to bet you do too!

It is the human condition to constantly be seeking more from life, to be continuously launching new rockets of desire.  Maybe it’s your health or your finances that are not up to par. Or perhaps you are still looking for your soul mate or want a more fulfilling career. Are there things you want to learn? Do you want a closer relationship with your siblings or parents?

The Feng Shui Bagua is a core element to understanding how Feng Shui works and how to apply it to your home or office. Feng Shui is based on the principle that your environment reflects and affects your life. It is an ancient Chinese art and science thousands of years old which works to arrange your home in a way that is flowing, peaceful and inviting. Feng Shui brings harmony to your home by unblocking stuck energy and is a powerful tool for attracting the people, circumstances and things you want in your life.

The Four Principles of Feng Shui

  1.  Everything is energy ~ Keep only those things in your space that you truly love and/or use. If it doesn’t raise your energy up, let it go!
  2.  Intention is key ~ Focusing on what you really want as you make Feng Shui changes is important. It is not just about moving your stuff. It’s about WHY you are moving or placing something in a specific location.
  3.  Use nature as a model for balance ~ Balance colors, textures, shapes and elements within your home to bring more harmony.
  4.  Your space reflects your life ~ What does your space say about you? Making changes in your space can effect changes in your life, even moving 1 thing that hasn’t been moved in 6 months can create a shift.

I have been studying and practicing Feng Shui for over 10 years and have learned to recognize subtle things in an environment which effect the flow of energy and opportunities. Being intuitive also helps since I not only see, I also feel the energetic stop signs in your space. These are the things that are blocking you from attracting everything you want. Without ever having met the occupant, I can tell many things about them simply by visiting their space. Using a Bagua, you, too, will be able to recognize what is going on in your life and make changes that will shift you back onto the path to your dream life.

What is a Bagua?

The Feng Shui Bagua (pronounced ba gwa) is a mental map of your space. Each section relates to a life area and has an associated color, element, number and body part. Each area or gua relates to a physical area in your home.

What do I do with a Bagua?

Line the Bagua with the arrows on the bottom, as if you were standing outside your home or office looking at the front door. The front door is the main entrance to your home which has the house numbers, not the entrance you may use all the time (like coming through your garage). Your front door will typically either be in Knowledge, Career or Helpful People. Any attached buildings, including garages and screened porches are included in your Bagua. For more details on how to create a blueprint for your home to use the Bagua, click here: Blueprint creation instructions

Once you have oriented the Bagua on your space, you can look at the life areas you want to improve (such as Career, Wealth, Partnership, Health, etc.) and see what’s happening in that area of your home.

  1. Clear the clutter (including in closets and drawers in that area). For more tips on clearing clutter, check out these blogs:
Clear Clutter Once and For All!
    Clearing Clutter in “Disguise”
Do You Need a Clutter Buster?
  2. Remove dead plants
  3. Repair or toss anything that is broken

You can place the Bagua over the main level of your home, an individual room, your desk or even your dresser. Remember the main entrance to your home or the room is always at the bottom so your Wealth corner is the back left of the space and Partnership is back right.

Do me a favor, will you? Place the Bagua on your home and comment below about what you found in your Wealth corner that surprised you or that you had forgotten about!

If your home is not square, there may be missing pieces. I can help you with a Quick Shift Feng Shui virtual consult to create your accurate Bagua map. Learn more here: www.findingyourfiji.com/FENGSHUI

Shut the Front Door…or open it!

Standard

When you hear someone talk about Feng Shui, an image of a front door painted red may come to mind. In Feng Shui, we refer to the front door as the “mouth of chi.” This is where the energy and opportunities enter your home and, in effect, your life.

Can you see your front door from the street? Or is it blocked by overgrown bushes or trees? Perhaps your front door is actually on the side of the house. How is the energy and opportunities going to find you?! Is the pathway from the street to your front door welcoming? What about your front door itself? Does it blend in with the rest of the house?

The truth is you don’t need to paint your front door red. The point of the red front door is making your door stand out from the rest of the house to attract good luck, good energy (chi) and opportunities. You can paint it another color, different from the siding, shutters, trim and roof, but make sure it’s a color that you love. If you live in a condo and can’t paint it, hang a pretty wreath on the door to make it stand out instead. Below are additional ideas to use your front door to attract and welcome new opportunities:

  •  Make sure the doorbell works
  •  Sweep the steps
  •  Change the front mat to a seasonal favorite
  •  Remove dead plants left over from the summer and replace with greenery (such as mini potted evergreen trees)
  •  Make sure the front door can open fully. Storing your shoes or other  items behind it may seem like a great idea, however, it limits your opportunities. Opportunity may knock and not be able to get into the house!

How often do you use your front door…actually go in and out of it? Convenience has most of us parking in our garage and entering and exiting our homes through the garage door. To increase opportunities, try this:

Go in and out of your front door for 9 days in a row. This energy shifting practice is particularly powerful if you are looking for a job or want to increase your career opportunities. Then, use the front door at least once a week thereafter.

So, don’t shut the front door – OPEN IT to welcome money and opportunities into your home and your life.
